Every course we run sits on one of three routes.

The teaching ladder
Start with the threshold qualification employers ask for, then build towards full teaching status. The conflict management award sits alongside, for trainers delivering SIA licence-to-practise courses.
TA → HLTA → L3AET → L4CET → L5DiT → QTLS (Fully qualified teacher status).
OR L3AET + L3DCM + L3PI → SIA Approved Instructor
L3AET — Level 3 Award in Education and Training
The starting point. Plan, deliver and evaluate a session, complete a micro-teach and hold the qualification colleges and training providers ask for.
L3DCM — Level 3 Award in Deliverers of Conflict Management Training
Design, deliver and debrief scenario-based conflict management training. Meets the SIA requirement for trainers delivering licence-to-practise courses.
L4CET — Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training
For those already teaching. Deeper planning, inclusive practice and assessment, with observed teaching in a real setting.
L5DiT — Level 5 Diploma in Teaching
The full teaching qualification for the further education and skills sector and the route towards QTLS.
The assessor ladder
The Level 3 TAQA suite. Take the theory award on its own, add the practice awards that match how you assess or take the full certificate.
L3AUPPA (No practice allowed) → L3AACWE (Workplace Assessor) or L3AAVRA (Vocational Assessor) → L3CAVA (Fully qualified Assessor)
L3AUPPA — Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
Theory only, no workplace practice needed. The entry point for everyone on the assessor route.
L3AACWE — Assessing Competence in the Work Environment
For assessing people doing the real job: observation, questioning and workplace evidence. Common in rail, housing, electrical and construction.
L3AAVRA — Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement
For assessing in classrooms, workshops and simulated settings rather than on the job. Sits alongside L3AACWE, not after it.
L3CAVA — Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement
The full assessor qualification: theory plus both practice units. The one most employers name when they advertise for an assessor.
The quality assurance ladder
The Level 4 TAQA suite. For assessors moving into sampling, standardisation and oversight and for the people who lead that function.
L4AUIQAAPP (No practice allowed) → L4AIQAAPP (Qualified IQA) → L4CLIQAAPP (Qualified Lead IQA) → Quality Manager
L4AUIQAAPP — Understanding Internal Quality Assurance
Theory only. What internal quality assurance is for and how sampling and standardisation actually work.
L4AIQAAPP — Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment
Theory plus practice. You plan and carry out real sampling activity across a team of assessors.
L4CLIQAAPP — Leading Internal Quality Assurance
For the person who owns the quality function: leading a team of IQAs, setting policy and holding the centre to standard.
