Distance Learning PTLLS – Is it an advantage or a tragedy?

As a PTLLS trainer and assessor at The Teacher Trainer, I have had nearly 5 years’ full-time experience of delivering both the Class Based and the Distance Learning PTLLS courses.
I have helped more than 850 learners in achieving their PTLLS qualification so far. Out of these 850, nearly 500 learners have done their course using the distance learning route. In fact, the Distance Learning PTLLS course is a boon for people in need. The Distance Learning PTLLS course not only helps those who need it urgently or have a specific deadline period to produce their certificate to their existing or prospective employers but it also helps people who want to start delivering their own courses and want to get a centre and course approval from awarding organisations. The Distance Learning PTLLS is the only option for learners who cannot wait for a college’s annual or semester schedule. Some colleges and training companies do run the PTLLS course as an 18 week’s programme. Now, attending such a long winded programme would not be a possibility for most of the teachers or trainers who are employed somewhere. Again, it is quite apparent that if you attend the course once a week and that too for 2 to 3 hours, you are looking at sparing the whole day off work which is taxing. Most of the teachers or trainers who are already working in the industry want a course that is as close as a computer with an internet connection. This is where our Distance Learning PTLLS course comes handy. It is not a completely online course and so people don’t need to be online at a specific time of the day. They can do it at their own convenience and flexibility – with no set class times, they can decide when to complete their assignments and readings during the day or the week. If you think that you learn better through visual cues and experiential exercises and those that require more time and also if you are very much self-directed and you want to set your own pace and schedule, the Distance Learning PTLLS is the right option for you. This is where you control the learning environment and so if you are currently busy working or teaching and want no interruptions in your job/career and don’t want to take a leave of absence in order to go back to college, you should definitely opt for the Distance Learning PTLLS course at The Teacher Trainer.
It is getting really common these days to spend a lot of money on various training courses. However, the Distance Learning PTLLS course is an exemption. If you want a cheaper course than traditional college courses – with no housing, meal plans or travel expenses to worry about, then the Distance Learning PTLLS course is the best option available. When people ask me about other benefits of the course and about the learners who have benefitted from the course, I always think that the name ‘Distance Learning PTLLS’ itself suggests one of the key benefits – DISTANCE… We had learners working for the British Army who are based in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, etc. and also other learners from India, Pakistan, South Africa, Nigeria, UAE, etc. These are people who have a good command of English and want to get the PTLLS qualification in order to enhance their job opportunities or fulfil a mandatory requirement to keep running funded programmes at their employers’. The only thing that stops them from achieving a qualification is the DISTANCE. Recently, David from Iraq achieved his PTLLS using the Distance Learning route and he was simply flabbergasted with the ongoing support via emails and phone calls that he received whenever he needed help. He was overjoyed and elated when he held the qualification certificate. This could work for you as well!
Any difference between Distance Learning PTLLS and Classroom Based PTLLS?
Most of the people are interested in knowing about how the course works. The Distance Learning PTLLS course covers the same theory as is covered in the Classroom Based PTLLS course. However, you don’t have to attend the sessions physically. It allows you the freedom to go through the resource materials in your own time. If you already have some teaching/training experience, I would strongly recommend that you go for the Distance Learning PTLLS course as it saves you a lot time, energy and money as well. On booking the course and making the payment, you are sent the Distance Learning PTLLS pack with a CD and a few handouts or documents. You would find all the course materials needed on the CD. You just need to go through a letter that would be sent to you in the pack. Also, you would be sent a CHECKLIST that will help you in making sure that you are doing things in the right direction and attempt to achieve your course. It is quite straightforward – more like an open book exam!!! However, if people get stuck on the route, they need to remember the fact that ‘Help is just an email/phone call away!’
